About Kevin
Growing up in Upstate NY, surrounded by the Adirondack
Mountains, and beautiful towns like Saratoga, photography quickly became
a passion of mine. Even as a young boy I looked forward to picking up
photos from the one-hour photo stores, flipping through each picture
looking for "the one". My parents were always so supportive of my
passion, always willing to help me out when I needed film or flash
cubes. Their admiration of my photos, was one of the biggest parts of
the process, that would always keep the fire alive.
All grown up and ready for college, I decided to go to
Rochester Institute of Technology and major in photography. It was a
wonderful experience for me; working in dark rooms and learning from
some of the best. In my days at RIT I learned the details involved in
photography that can take someone from being a hobbyist to a
professional artist. Somewhere along the way, computers took over my life.
I guess you could consider computers the mistress for which I would
briefly leave photography. In many ways, this detour has given me an
advantage not all photographers are allowed. I learned about computers
inside and out, mastered digital editing software from Photoshop to
Fireworks, and acquainted myself with web design software including
Flash and FrontPage. In the end, my career in computers is what brought
me 1800 miles from home, to work in downtown Houston Texas.
Along this path, came the most important day of my
life. I married the woman of my dreams, and this same woman would once
again re-ignite my passion for photography. She bought me a Canon 400D
SLR camera as a gift for my birthday, and started the ball rolling.
Since that day the equipment list has grown and grown, and I've
revisited that passion for the art I once had.
